UK Conference on Somalia - Amnesty Experts and Footage Available

On Thursday 23 February British Prime Minister David Cameron will host a high-level conference in London to discuss the future of Somalia.

Amnesty International is calling on conference participants to ensure that the protection of civilians is at the centre of any strategy put in place to stabilise the country.

Children in Somalia are particularly vulnerable as they are recruited as child soldiers, denied access to education and killed or injured in indiscriminate attacks carried out in densely populated areas.

Somalia researcher Benedicte Goderiaux is available for interview by phone, ISDN or in London studios.

Amnesty International also has a 10 minute video B roll available for download. The footage contains images and interviews of children playing with toy guns in Mogadishu, children re-enacting fighting and children injured in Mogadishu Hospital.
